The Route

The ultimate North Island adventure – from volcanic heartland to wild coastlines, with plenty of gravel in between!

Day 1 - Auckland to Coromandel  Leaving our Auckland depot and heading east toward the Coromandel Peninsula, we quickly get off the main roads and into some great back-country riding. Expect winding roads, gravel, native bush, coastal views, Pohutukawa-lined roads and some classic Coromandel scenery before finishing the day on the peninsula.

Day 2 - Coromandel to Rotorua  More fantastic Coromandel riding to start the day before heading south through the Bay of Plenty and into the volcanic heart of the North Island. A mix of flowing roads, gravel and forestry country takes us inland toward Rotorua, famous for its lakes, geothermal activity, steaming ground and unique volcanic landscape.

Day 3 - Rotorua to Taupo  A big adventure loop through the central volcanic plateau, exploring remote back roads, forests and gravel country east and south of Rotorua. Crater lakes, geothermal landscapes and wide-open volcanic terrain feature throughout the day before we finish beside Lake Taupo, New Zealand’s largest lake – itself sitting in one of the world’s great volcanic calderas.

Day 4 - Taupo to Raglan  Leaving Taupo we head west into some seriously good back-country riding, looping through remote farming country, native bush and endless gravel roads. From the volcanic plateau we work our way toward the rugged west coast, finishing the day in the laid-back surf town of Raglan overlooking the Tasman Sea.

Day 5 - Raglan to Auckland  A final day of North Island adventure riding as we head north from Raglan, staying away from the main highways wherever possible. More gravel, rolling farmland, back-country roads and west coast scenery before looping back into Auckland and finishing at our depot – completing an epic coast-to-coast five-day adventure.
