5 day tour - South Island

Do you want to be an adventure motorcycle film star?!! Then join Ultimate Adventure Moto NZ and special guest Motology Films founder and motorcycling legend Adam Riemann on an awesome South Island media shoot and adventure motorcycling experience!

Spend 5 days riding alongside Adam, getting to know him as he works his craft filming and compiling a unique adventure motorcycling short film featuring the lucky participants on this tour. Starting and finishing in Christchurch, the tour follows the route of our proven Southern Passes Adventure Tour, taking in some of the best of Canterbury, West Coast, Central Otago and Mackenzie country regions in the South Island.

This is a one-off exclusive Adam Riemann tour experience and is limited to 12 participants only! Our guides will lead the tour with Adam riding and mingling amongst the group filming the awesome riding, scenery and camaraderie experienced on and off the bike during our tours.

You will enjoy a large range of riding experiences from breath-taking winding highways to backcountry gravel roads, climbing over some of the most famous high country stations, historic gold mining trails and alpine passes such as Arthurs Pass, Danseys Pass, Nevis Valley, and Old Dunstan Road, you will definitely not be disappointed!

Four nights accommodation is included in the tour including overnights in Franz Josef, Queenstown, Alexandra and Otematata, providing a great look around some amazing NZ towns and local experiences.

The tour has an “off-the-beaten-track” focus with some highway riding to begin with then into a lot of gravel roads, plus some 4wd tracks and stream crossings to keep the adrenaline pumping. This tour will have extra stops, and timing requirements in order for Adam to direct his filming requirements and produce another top class motorcycling film. For that reason this tour is specifically for experienced adventure riders only.

The Route

The southern South Island, an adventure riders ultimate experience!

Day 1 - Christchurch to Franz Josef Leaving Christchurch and heading west via some back country gravel to the majestic Arthurs Pass. Jaw dropping scenery through this National Park then over to the deserted coastal highways of the West Coast with its fantastic glacier country.

Day 2 - Franz Josef to Queenstown A highway riding day heading south through dense native bush and the Haast Pass before the stunning southern lakes and beautiful Wanaka. From here is through the Cardrona Valley, Crown Range and zig zag road down to Arrowtown and the tourist mecca of Queenstown.

Day 3 - Queenstown to Alexandra Along Lake Wakatipu to Garston then into the gravel and the famous Nevis Valley with 4WD tracks plus creek and river crossings to keep the adrenaline pumping. Clyde and Cromwell are next, then plenty of farm gates through high country farm land and back to Alexandra.

Day 4 - Alexandra to Otematata A steep climb on 4WD tracks thru the Old Man Range, driving over the Roxburgh hydro dam, a fuel and pie stop in Roxburgh, back country routes past Lake Onslow to Ranfurly - wow, what a morning! The afternoon takes us over the sweeping gravel corners and vistas of Danseys Pass and up the Waitaki Valley to Otematata.

Day 5 - Otematata to Christchurch Hakataramea Pass, Mackenzie Pass and Burkes Pass to Fairlie, or depending on conditions over Lake Benmore dam then through Black Forest Station and onto the glacial lakes of Pukaki and Tekapo to Fairlie. The inland scenic route via the Rakia Gorge and Darfield takes us back to Christchurch.

Support Van – Support van with driver to carry all luggage and provide backup support, spares, and emergency assistance.
Pre-Ride Briefings – Full route and safety briefing daily
GPS Routes – GPS devices are mounted on all bikes with pre-installed route files for full tour navigation.
Accommodation – Four nights twin share accommodation provided (single available for additional cost - see Tour Overview Guide).
Meals – Breakfast is included daily. Lunches, Dinners and snacks are not included and are at each individuals cost. Each break location or destination offers a range of dining options.

Pricing starts at NZD $6,490 per person (in twin share accommodation).

The price varies depending on which KTM bike model is allocated for the tour. We have limited numbers available of each model, therefore your first choice bike selection may not be available.
